Compression cubes felt like a scam until my 18-inch carry-on proved me wrong in Seattle

I laughed at the idea of squeezing clothes into tiny bags, figured it was just marketing fluff from people who pack one t-shirt. Then I flew to Seattle last month with a 10-day trip stuffed in an 18-inch carry-on, and the cubes actually saved me. I fit 4 pairs of jeans, 6 shirts, a hoodie, and my toiletries without using the expansion zipper. The trick was rolling each item tight before zipping the cube, not just shoving stuff in loose. My buddy still thinks I'm nuts, but he was the one checking a bag for a weekend. Has anyone else found these things useless for a specific bag size or material?

Wait, did you use the bigger cube for the jeans or split them up, cause I feel like that's where most people mess up and end up with a lumpy mess instead of an actual flat pack?
