Comparison of packing cubes vs. just rolling everything into a backpack
After three trips with those fancy packing cubes from a store in Portland, I finally tried just shoving everything loose and rolled into a regular duffel for a weekend in Phoenix, and the loose method gave me way more space and less stress, has anyone else found packing cubes are overrated for short trips?

Oh man, I read somewhere that packing cubes really shine for longer trips where you're digging through stuff every day. For a quick weekend like Phoenix I bet loose rolling is totally fine, less time messing with tiny zippers and more time enjoying yourself. It makes sense to skip the extra gear when you're not hauling enough clothes to need a system.

You ever just throw everything in a duffel bag and hope for the best? I did that for a three day trip to Austin last month and honestly it worked great. Just rolled up five shirts, two pairs of shorts, and my toiletries in a gallon bag. Took me five minutes to pack and I wasn't digging through anything because I just grabbed the whole bag and pulled out what I needed. For a quick weekend where you're not changing outfits three times a day, cubes feel like overkill.
