An airline check-in agent changed how I pack shirts

At the gate in Denver last summer, the agent told me my carry-on was one inch too tall to fit in the sizer. She said 'if you roll your shirts instead of folding them, you'll gain back that space.' I had always folded everything flat and never thought about rolling. Now I roll all my t-shirts and button-downs and fit three extra outfits in the same bag. Has anyone else tried rolling versus folding and noticed a big difference?

Man that gate agent did you a solid. Rolling shirts is the real deal, I started doing it a couple years ago after watching some travel video on YouTube and it changed everything. You honestly can fit way more in a smaller space and the clothes don't get nearly as wrinkled as you'd think. Sleeping on that hack for so long feels like a waste of space in hindsight. I'm glad you found it too, it makes packing way less stressful when you're not fighting with a stuffed bag.

Does rolling keep your shirts from getting that weird collar crease?
