Why I quit using cheap tack strips after 8 years of callbacks
I always bought the $12 rolls from the big box store to save money. After getting 3 callbacks in one month from the same new construction job in Phoenix where the strips kept splitting, I switched to the $22 ones from a local supply house. Night and day difference. The heavier gauge holds the carpet tight without cracking. Has anyone else had trouble with those flimsy strips on concrete slabs?

Those flimsy strips on concrete slabs" is exactly what did in my buddy's living room job. He had to rip out the whole thing three months later because the strips just crumbled.

I'd go with a polyurethane adhesive instead of those strips, way more forgiving on concrete.
