The day I stopped stretching carpet with my knee and started using a power stretcher
Used to think I could save time by just knee-kicking every room, till I pulled a hamstring on a 12-foot wide master bedroom in Decatur and couldn't walk right for a week. Now I swear by the power stretcher even for small closets - who else made that switch way later than they should have?

Whoa hold on, that hip thing is wild! I never even thought about that. I just figured it was my knees taking the beating, but you're right - that jarring has to travel somewhere. Now I'm sitting here thinking about all those years I was basically pounding my whole pelvis into the ground one room at a time. Man, that explains a lot of random soreness I just chalked up to getting older. Definitely glad I switched over before I did any real damage to my joints.

Funny thing is, the knee kicker actually wears out your hips too over time. My chiropractor pointed that out after I complained about my right hip always being sore. She said the repetitive jarring motion translates straight up from your knee into your pelvic joint. Switched to the power stretcher about six months ago and that hip pain went away completely. Plus the carpet looks better because you get consistent tension across the whole room instead of those little waves you sometimes miss with the knee kicker. Knees and hips will thank you later for making that switch.
