That job at a Chicago condo changed my mind about stretch-in
I was installing carpet in a high rise near the Loop and the owner demanded no power stretcher, just knee kicker. After seeing the wrinkles show up three days later, I realized I was wrong about getting away without a full stretch every time. Any of you guys run into clients who insist on skipping the power stretcher?

Nah man, knee kickers work fine if you know what you're doing and the padding's good. Sounds like the real issue was the installer's technique, not the tool.

Power stretcher saved my knees and time on a big job last month.

What's with everyone acting like a knee kicker is some kind of ancient magic trick that only the pros can pull off? If the job was done right and the carpet was properly trimmed, those wrinkles wouldn't have shown up just because you skipped the power stretcher. @shah.evan probably had good results because he actually knows how to work his tool, not because it has some special power. Most wrinkles come from bad cutting or poor seam work, not from skipping a big stretch.
