Stretching methods split: manual knee kicker still my go-to after 12 years
Everyone in my crew swears by the power stretcher for any room over 10 feet, but I've been using a manual knee kicker on all my residential jobs since 2012. Did a 14x18 living room in Boise last month with just the knee kicker and it took me 45 minutes longer than my partner's power stretcher route, but I got zero ripples and no callbacks. Power stretchers can over-stretch and tear backing on cheaper materials, and I've seen it happen twice on 8-pound pad jobs. Has anyone else stuck with the old tool against the grain, or am I just stubborn about my knee caps?
