Overheard a homeowner say carpet padding thickness doesnt matter...
Was working a job in St. Paul yesterday and the customer told me she read online that 1/4 inch padding is just as good as 7/16 inch for her berber carpet. I had to bite my tongue so hard almost drew blood. Took me 10 minutes to explain why her seams would show and the carpet would wear out in 2 years instead of 10. Has anyone else had to talk someone out of a bad internet tip mid-install?

Oh man I feel your pain. Had a guy in Minneapolis insist that cheap foam padding would be fine for his wool carpet because some YouTube guy said so. Showed up the next year to fix ripples and he finally got it. Some battles you just gotta pick wisely.
