My installer buddy in Dayton kept telling me to stop stretching over my knee, and he was dead on
I stretched every seam for years by bracing my knee on the pad, and my back paid for it every Friday. He showed me the power stretcher setup against a wall in about 3 minutes and I finished a 40 yard job that afternoon without the usual ache. Any of you still stretch by hand, or did you switch over too?
Explain the wall setup he showed you. Did he run the stretcher head low near the baseboard with a stub or block behind it, or did he brace the tail against a door frame with a 2x4? Asking because I have a hallway job coming up with nothing good to push off of and I want to know what actually works before I start. Curious how he kept the stretcher from slipping once you got tension on it too.
