I finally stopped cutting stair carpet on the floor like a rookie

I used to measure and cut every stair tread sitting on my knees in the hallway, and it ate up so much time on a 14 step run. Now I made a simple plywood jig that clamps to my sawhorses in the garage, and last Tuesday I knocked out a full flight in about 25 minutes with zero miscuts. Anyone got a trick for keeping the pile direction straight when you're cutting bullnose pieces?
