I finally chose a power stretcher over a knee kicker for a tricky room

Had a 12x15 living room in an old house with uneven floors in St. Louis last month. Went with the power stretcher to avoid wrinkles, and it took twice as long to set up but the carpet laid flat perfectly. Anyone else find the extra setup time worth it for tough layouts?

Did you try a knee kicker first or just go straight for the power stretcher?

My first carpet job I borrowed a knee kicker from a buddy and spent three hours on a 12x12 room. The next day I bought a power stretcher and finished a similar room in 45 minutes. It's funny how we try the cheaper or easier tool first, even when we know deep down it's not the right one for the job. That pattern shows up everywhere not just in flooring but in how we approach anything new.
