Had to pick between a power stretcher and a knee kicker for a tricky hallway job

I went with the power stretcher for a 30 foot hallway with three doorways last Tuesday and it saved me so much time. Anybody else swear by power stretchers for long runs or do you still stick with the knee kicker?

Stretch it across all three doorways in one go? That sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I've done plenty of long hallways with a knee kicker and never had an issue. Power stretcher just seems like overkill for a simple hallway, unless you're dealing with some really tricky angles or something.

Agreed completely. People act like you need a full rig just to lay carpet in a straight shot. I've been doing this long enough to know a knee kicker works fine for hallways, even with three doorways. You just have to take your time and get the stretch right in each section. Power stretcher is for big rooms or commercial jobs where you can't afford any ripples. For a residential hallway it's just extra gear to lug around and set up. Not everything has to be overengineered.
