Had a power stretcher kick back on me in a bedroom in Boise, and the homeowner saw the whole thing
So last Tuesday I'm finishing up a 12x14 bedroom in Boise, just me and the power stretcher, and the thing decides to launch itself off the wall. Turns out I had the tail block on a baseboard that was barely held in with two finishing nails, and when I leaned into it the whole board popped off and the stretcher went skating across the new carpet like a hockey puck. The homeowner was standing in the doorway with a cup of coffee the entire time, just watching. I tried to play it cool and said something like 'that's why I always test the walls first,' which made zero sense because clearly I hadn't tested anything. Ended up pulling the carpet back up, re-nailing the baseboard with 2 inch brads, and starting that whole corner over. Cost me about 45 extra minutes and one very awkward conversation. The guy was actually nice about it and offered me a water, but his kid asked if I was a professional. Anyone else ever had a stretcher take off on them because of a weak wall?
