Was framing a deck in Boise last June when the inspector flagged every single joist hanger, turns out I'd been using the wrong nails for 8 years
Found out the hard way that the 1.5 inch galvanized nails I'd been shooting in joist hangers don't meet code in Idaho, they want the 3 inch ones or the hangers can pull loose under load, and now I keep a printout of the nail schedule taped inside my trailer lid so I never guess again, anyone else get dinged on something basic they'd been doing forever?
