Warning about the new composite decking at the big box store in Springfield

Honestly, I was installing a whole backyard set with it last week and the hidden fasteners kept pulling straight through the material. Has anyone else run into this with that specific brand?

Yeah, that part about the hidden fasteners pulling through is a huge red flag. I had the same thing happen on a small landing I built last fall. The screw head just tore right through the little groove on the underside. Ended up having to go back and add face screws in a bunch of spots, which totally defeats the point of the hidden system. It's so frustrating when the material just can't hold.

Built the whole thing myself thinking I was clever with hidden fasteners. First rain and I heard popping sounds like a ghost was breaking my deck. Guess who became an expert at face screwing from underneath at 10 PM with a headlamp on.
