Vent: My miter saw blade lasted half as long as the box claimed

I bought a Diablo 12 inch 80 tooth blade about 6 months ago and the box said it'd cut 2000 linear feet before needing sharpening. I just hit 980 feet doing crown molding for a house in Portland and it's already burning through maple like crazy. Did I get a dud or are these numbers just marketing BS? Anyone else track their blade life and get way less than advertised?

...and that's pretty much what happened with mine too. I got maybe 1100 feet out of a Diablo 60 tooth before it started smoking through oak. Those numbers on the box are pure fantasy unless you're cutting perfect pine at a glacial pace. What helped me was just accepting I'd need a sharpen around 800-1000 feet for hardwoods. Bought a second blade so I always have a spare, swap them out quick when one gets dull. Less headache than trying to squeeze every last foot out of one.

Hold up, I've gotten way more than 1100 feet out of a Diablo 60 tooth in oak without it smoking. You're probably pushing it too hard through the cut or using a dull blade to begin with. A sharp Diablo will chew through hardwoods all day if you let the saw do the work instead of forcing it. I run mine at full speed and take it slow on the push, and I've hit 1500 feet easy before needing a touch-up. Sounds like user error more than the blade being junk.
