That week we had to rebuild a whole set of custom cabinets in the rain
The client's garage was our only cover, so we lost two full days just moving gear around. Anyone else ever had a project derailed by something as simple as the weather?

I used to think weather delays were just part of the job, but a flooded basement job last spring changed my mind. Watching finished trim work warp before we could seal it was a real gut punch. Now I check the hourly forecast like it's my religion and build in extra days for rain from the start. It feels like giving in, but it saves so much stress and wasted material.

Checking the forecast every hour seems a bit much. A little rain never hurt anyone, and wood can always be fixed or replaced. Building in extra days just makes the job take longer and costs more money. Most delays are pretty minor if you plan right from the start. It's just part of working outside, you learn to deal with it.

Maybe, but constantly watching the sky just kills the flow of getting things done.
