Talked to a trim carpenter in Nashville, changed my mind on MDF

He was doing crown molding in a $2 million house and said he only uses poplar now, called MDF "glorified cardboard." Made me rethink the 40 sheets I've installed over the last 2 years. Has anyone else switched back to solid wood for painted trim?

Guy probably tells his wife she looks better without makeup too. MDF's been fine until it meets water, then it's just expensive confetti.
