PSA: I switched from a standard 7 1/4 inch circular saw to a worm drive for framing and it's a game changer

I was doing a big deck rebuild in Sacramento and used my old circular saw for the first day. The next day I borrowed a buddy's Skilsaw worm drive. The extra torque and better sight line along the blade made cutting through the wet treated 2x10s way easier and more accurate. Anyone else made a switch like that and found it totally changed their speed on a job?

Wet treated 2x10s" is the real villain in that story. My old saw would probably just start smoking and cry if I tried that. So you're saying I should blame my tools for my slow deck work?

Man, wet lumber is the worst. Buddy of mine tried cutting some fresh treated posts last summer and his circular saw legit shot sparks like a 4th of July show. Turns out the blade was so gummed up with sap and water it was basically welding itself to the wood. Sometimes the tools really are the problem, not the person using them.
