Noticed a huge difference after putting a square on my table saw fence 3 years ago

Back when I started out I just used the tape that came with my saw. Cut was always off by a hair here and there. Finally clamped a 24 inch machined square to my fence and checked every single joint. After that the gaps on my cabinets went from 1/16 inch to almost zero. Took me about 2 hours to dial everything in. Has anyone else tried truing up their fence with just a good square?

Jumped right into that same setup about 2 years ago. I was building a set of wall cabinets and kept getting these tiny gaps at the back corners, drove me nuts. So I clamped my 24 inch Starrett square to the fence and went joint by joint like you said. The biggest thing I found was that my tape was off by about 0.015 from one end to the other, which adds up on long cuts. After resetting everything I could actually push two panels together and feel them click into place with no daylight. Made a huge difference when I was running stiles for doors, no more fighting with the glue up to get things square.
