I switched from nails to screws on a set of shop cabinets and now I owe a buddy 4 hours
Built a run of base cabinets for my garage two weeks ago and stood there staring at two boxes, one with 16 gauge nails and one with 2 inch screws. I went with screws because I was working alone and didn't want to wrestle the framing nailer around by myself. Big mistake on the carcasses. Every screw pulled the plywood slightly out of square and I ended up clamping and re-driving about 30 of them in my driveway in Keller. My neighbor who does finish work swung by, laughed, and told me glue plus nails is the whole point on boxes, screws are for hanging doors. Took me an extra four hours to get the faces flush again. So what's your line for screws versus nails on shop built cabinets, or do you just glue everything and call it done?
