I laughed at a guy for using a jig saw for 6 months straight
Buddy on a crew in Austin used nothing but an old DeWalt jigsaw for trim work. I figured he was nuts. Watched him finish a whole house of baseboards with zero gaps. He was touching up miters freehand with a 12 tooth blade. I'm buying one tomorrow. Anyone else seen someone make a 'wrong' tool work perfectly?

My dad once drywalled a whole basement with a roofing hatchet.

Wait, did he actually use a ROOFING hatchet on drywall? I read somewhere that people used to do wild stuff like that back in the day, just grabbing whatever tool was handy. A roofing hatchet has that big flat head for nailing but way too heavy for regular drywall screws or those little nails. It probably made a MESS of the paper and left dents everywhere he tried to fasten it. I bet the walls came out looking pretty rough unless he was a REALLY steady hand with that thing. Still, it's kind of impressive he even finished the job without breaking every sheet in half.
