Finally fixed my miter saw stand wobble with a 50 cent wedge from the scrap bin
The stand I built last year had a rock to it that drove me nuts every time I cut trim, and shimming the feet never held up. I finally jammed a cedar shim I cut from scrap under the back leg and screwed it down, and it has been dead flat for 3 weeks now. Anyone else give up on store bought leveling feet and just wedge the thing?
Store bought leveling feet are a scam anyway. You pay fifteen bucks for four plastic screws that strip out the second you put any real weight on them. A cedar shim screwed down will outlive us all, and it cost you nothing but the shame of digging through the scrap bin. My table saw has been riding a folded business card for two years now and it still cuts straighter than anything I've leveled properly.
