Appreciation post: the spacer block trick on cabinet installs saved my back on a 14 unit job in Boise
Ngl I was ready to quit cabinets after tearing out crooked uppers for the third time on this apartment complex job. My old boss showed me to cut a scrap 3/4 inch plywood block set to the exact height between the bottom of the upper cabinet and the countertop line, then just rest each box on it before shooting screws. I mocked him for carrying that dumb block around in his apron for two years, but it cut my install time from 40 minutes per box down to about 12, and everything lines up dead level now. If you're still marking lines with a pencil and a level on every cabinet, what's stopping you from making one of these blocks?
