Wasted $800 on a career coach who just read me a script
I paid $800 for a 3 month career coaching program because I was stuck in my nursing job and wanted out. Turned out all she did was watch videos from a generic online course and repeat them back to me with a fake smile. When I asked for specific advice about transitioning to a hospital admin role, she just gave me bullet points from a $15 ebook. I figured a real coach would have deep connections or insider tips, but nope. Has anyone else thrown money at one of these programs and gotten nothing but generic platitudes?

@margarethill hit the nail on the head with that. I actually used to work for one of those coaching companies a few years back, and the "coaches" were just people who passed a 2 week training course. They handed us a binder full of scripts and told us to read them out loud. No real industry experience, no connections, nothing. Most of them had never even worked in the fields they were coaching people into. So when you say she was reading from a script, I believe you 100%. That $800 could have gotten you a LinkedIn premium subscription and a few informational interviews with actual hospital admins. Did you try reaching out to her for a refund yet?

Saw someone on another forum say these coaches just recycle whatever's trending on LinkedIn that month. Feels like you paid for a motivational speaker without the motivation.
