Three years ago I was just cleaning houses, now I'm managing a team of four

Last week I had to sit down and actually plan out schedules for my crew, which felt wild. Last month I hired my fourth cleaner after a big contract with a real estate office in Springfield. It started when a regular client asked if I knew anyone else three years back, and I just said yes. Has anyone else had to figure out payroll and scheduling after starting solo?

The weirdest part for me was learning to let go of the actual cleaning work (you know, the thing you're good at) to focus on the boss stuff. That mental shift was harder than the paperwork.

Yeah @grant.margaret, that mental switch is the real work. It feels weird to stop doing the thing that got you here in the first place.

Set a timer for it honestly. I started blocking out 2 hours every morning for the business stuff and told myself I couldn't touch any of the hands-on work until that timer went off. @dylan265 nailed it, that feeling of wasting time when you're not doing the thing you're actually good at takes a while to shake. For me, it helped to think of the boss stuff as its own skill I was learning, not just junk getting in the way of my real work. After a few weeks my brain finally stopped screaming at me to go do the easier task I actually knew how to do.
