Spent 4 years answering every work email within 10 minutes, then my boss said something that stopped me cold
I always thought being the fast responder was my superpower at work. Every ping, every request, I was on it in under 10 minutes, even during lunch or on weekends. Then at my review in March, my manager said, "You reply fast but your actual projects keep slipping." That hit me hard because she was right. I went back through my sent folder and counted 60 plus quick replies in a single week, most of them things that could have waited a day. I was mistaking being available for being good at my job. Now I batch my email checks to twice a day and my real work actually moves. Has anyone else had a boss point out the difference between busy and productive like that?
