Question about dealing with a boss who micro-manages every step
I started a new job at a marketing firm in Austin about 3 months ago. My manager asks me to send her a daily status report with every single task I complete, down to the minute. She also CC's herself on all my emails and follows up with me within an hour if I don't reply to a client. I spent 4 hours last week just updating her on my workflow. Has anyone else worked under someone like this and found a way to get them to back off a little?
bro same lol. "down to the minute" is WILD, does she want you to log bathroom breaks too? i'd start sending her the most ridiculous status reports like "9:02am - blinked 3 times, 9:05am - yawned, 9:10am - stared at wall contemplating life choices." honestly 4 hours of updating her on your workflow is insane, she needs a hobby. maybe she's trying to justify her own job by pretending she's "managing" you that hard.
Wait, does she actually read all those reports or is she just collecting them? @angelacooper nailed it though, my old boss used to do the same thing until I started sending them in different fonts and colors just to test if she was paying attention. She finally backed off after I "accidentally" included a fake coffee run in the timeline and she never even noticed.
