Noticed a big shift in how my team handles project updates
Two years ago, we had a weekly two hour meeting where everyone just read from a slide deck. Now we use a shared doc for status and only meet for 15 minutes to talk about blockers. The change came after a new manager asked us to track how much time we spent in meetings versus doing actual work. Has your group moved to shorter check ins too?

Oh man, absolutely! We went through the same exact thing. We used to have these endless Monday meetings where we'd just go in circles. Now we have a quick stand-up three times a week, maybe ten minutes tops. It was a total game changer for actually getting work done. I mean, I didn't realize how much time I was wasting just listening to stuff I could read in an email. The shorter check-ins force us to only talk about what actually matters right now.

Actually, I miss the longer meetings sometimes. Those slide decks gave me a real sense of where the whole project was going, not just my piece. Now with the quick check-ins, I feel like I'm working in a bubble and the big picture gets lost. It's all about immediate problems, and I worry we're missing the forest for the trees.
