My boss in Dallas said 'we're a family' then laid off half my team last week

Three years ago, I moved here for this job because they sold us on that line during the interview. Last month, they started cutting project budgets and asking for more hours, then on Friday they just called us into a Zoom and read a list of names. How do you even trust a company's culture talk after something like that?

Yeah but is it always that deep? Sometimes people just say stuff without thinking it through.

Hate that crap. They always say family until the money gets tight, then you find out you're just a line item. Happened to a buddy of mine too, same exact lines. Makes you feel like a sucker for believing it. I'd start looking and just keep your head down, the trust is gone.
