I think everyone's wrong about needing a five year plan

My best career move came from a random Tuesday when I said yes to a project in Austin that scared me... it was a total mess but I learned more in that week than in a year of safe jobs. Has anyone else had a good thing come from a plan falling apart?

Your story is great, but it's not really about a plan falling apart, is it? You didn't have a plan to begin with. The good thing came from saying yes to something random, not from a failed five-year strategy. It's more about being open to chaos than recovering from a broken plan.

Reminds me of my buddy who got laid off and just started driving for Uber to pay rent. Picked up a guy who owned a small brewery, they got talking, and now he's their head of logistics. Never saw that coming.

Hey wait but isn't getting fired from a stable job also a plan falling apart though?
