Update: picked the open trailer over enclosed for my Civic and of course it rained
Had to move my Civic from Phoenix to Denver back in March and the quote gap was $450 between an open trailer and an enclosed one, so I went cheap. Sure enough we hit a storm outside Flagstaff and the car showed up with a fresh layer of road grit and two small chips on the hood. For the folks who haul on open trailers all the time, do you just accept the dirt or is there something you do to protect the front before it ships?
