Vent: My 'waterproof' tent failed in 20 minutes of Oregon drizzle

The specs said 3000mm hydrostatic head rating, but last weekend near Florence it leaked right through the seams after just 20 minutes of light rain. I checked the reviews again and turns out a tester measured it at 1800mm in their backyard rain simulation. Has anyone else found that these ratings are basically made up unless you pay over $200?

Hold up, 1800mm vs 3000mm is a huge drop. Thats like half the rating gone, you cant just round that down to a lab error or something. Ive seen cheap gear stretch the truth a bit, but a 40% miss on the spec sheet is straight up false advertising. That tester must have a proper setup too, not just a garden hose, so I would trust their numbers more than the box. Its wild how companies think we wont look deeper into this stuff, especially when water is ruining your whole trip. I hope you hit up the brand with that review link, because they owe you an answer.
