Used to pitch my tent like a klutz for 20 minutes, now I do it in under 5 after watching a 12 year old scout

That line about "pitching my tent like a klutz" is me to a T lol. What specific tip from that kid actually made it click for you though? Was it something about how they fed the poles through or did they show you some trick with the rain fly that cut your time down? I always end up fighting with my tent poles getting crossed up, wondering if there's a shortcut or if I just need to get gud at it.

Man, tell me about it. @cameron318, the thing that really flipped a switch for me wasn't even the poles. It was when that kid showed me you don't have to stake down the rain fly tight to the ground at first. I always used to pull every corner out as far as it'd go, then fight the door zipper for ten minutes. Now I just stake it loosely, get inside and clip the sides, then go back out and tighten everything down. Cuts like five minutes off the whole deal. The poles still get crossed up sometimes on a windy day, but not having the extra tension from the fly makes it way easier to untangle.
