Tried the water displacement trick on a $200 sleeping bag and now I'm second guessing every review I ever read
Last month I tested my Kelty Cosmic 20 in the backyard when it hit 28 degrees and stayed bone dry, so I started wondering how many of those YouTube reviews are just people unboxing gear in their living room. On one side, folks say you have to take gear on a real trip to judge it, on the other, some argue a controlled test tells you more than 10 soggy nights ever could. I ran a simple loft test with a ruler and got a 3.5 inch baffle measurement, which matched the spec sheet within a quarter inch. What do you all trust more, backyard testing or actual trail time?
