Serious question, did anyone else's dad swear by using a candle lantern to keep a tent warm?
Mine did, and I finally tried his old Coleman single-mantle model on a trip to the Adirondacks when the temp dropped to 45 degrees. It didn't really warm the air much, but the radiant heat on my hands while playing cards was a total game changer for morale. What's your weird old-school gear trick that actually has some merit?

Remember using a wool blanket as a tent liner to cut the wind. It trapped a surprising amount of body heat and stopped that damp chill. That old trick made a cold night way more bearable.

Isn't it wild how the simplest old-school fixes, like @wyatt513's blanket trick, are often the best? I see that everywhere now, people relearning basic stuff that just WORKS.
