Pro tip: My buddy laughed at my $10 camp pillow until he tried it

Last month on a trip to the Blue Ridge, a guy named Dave told me those cheap inflatable pillows are worthless and to just use a stuff sack with clothes. I borrowed his setup for one night and woke up with a crick in my neck so bad I couldn't pack my tent - I'm sticking with my $10 pillow forever, anyone else had a random stranger's advice completely backfire?

Did you ever get a crick in your neck so bad you couldn't turn your head for two days? That happened to me after listening to some "expert" who swore by sleeping on a folded hoodie... worst mistake of my life. I actually just use a rolled up towel inside a dry bag now, costs me nothing extra and lets me adjust the height however I want. The inflatable pillows are fine for some people but I wake up with my head sliding off them halfway through the night. Honestly, you just gotta find what keeps your neck straight and ignore everyone else's advice.

Dave swore by his stuff sack method until he woke up with a stiff neck.
