I just hit 100 nights in my old tent and it feels like a real friend now
I was cleaning out my gear closet last weekend and found my old tent's logbook. I've kept a little note of each trip in it since I bought it. I added up the nights and it came to exactly 100. That's a mix of weekend trips in the White Mountains and a couple of longer stints out west. This tent, a simple two-person dome, has seen some serious weather, from a downpour in the Adirondacks to high winds in Wyoming. It's got a few patches and the zipper is a bit sticky, but it's never failed me. I remember thinking it was just a piece of gear, but hitting that number made me realize it's been a constant part of so many good memories. Has anyone else had a piece of gear quietly become a trusted part of your routine like that?

Always thought gear was just stuff till my boots hit 500 miles.

But gear is just stuff. The miles are what make it yours, not the other way around. Counting them misses the point.

Wait you actually tracked the miles on your boots? That's some serious dedication.
