Found a dirt cheap trick for keeping my sleeping bag dry in rain

Last trip to Hocking Hills in Ohio, my tent floor got a slow leak from a sharp rock I missed. Water started seeping into my bag by 3 AM. I remembered reading about using a contractor bag as a liner, so I stuffed my sleeping bag into a 3 mil thick one for the next night. Worked perfectly even when the rain picked up again, and the bag was only $7 for a box of 12 at Home Depot. Has anyone else tried something simple that saved their gear on a wet trip?

Did the contractor bag cause any extra sweating or condensation inside the bag overnight?
