TIL those cheap plastic lens spanner wrenches from online marketplaces are basically useless for anything heavier than a filter ring.
I bent the tips trying to get a stuck helicoid apart on a 50mm f/1.8 and ended up having to buy a proper metal one for $45 after wasting $12 on the junk set.

Yeah, those plastic ones are basically toys. I learned the hard way too, you just have to bite the bullet for the metal spanner.

My dad gave me a cheap plastic wrench set when I moved out. It snapped trying to fix a leaky faucet and I had a mini flood. Now I just save up for a single good tool at a time. A solid metal adjustable wrench has saved me so many times since. It's the difference between a quick fix and a bigger problem.
