Stuck between two shutter curtain materials for my 1950s folder

I was rebuilding a Voigtlander Bessa from 1952 and had to pick between titanium foil or modern polyester film for the shutter curtains. Went with the titanium because the original looked so thin and delicate, but it took me 4 tries to get the tension right on the first curtain drum. Has anyone else had trouble getting titanium curtains to sit flat at the edges?

Yeah, that curling edge thing is brutal. Titanium fights you every step.

Man, titanium is tricky stuff. My buddy tried to do the same thing on an old Zeiss folder and he swore the edges kept curling up like an old potato chip. He spent a whole weekend just trying to get the glue to hold the edges flat and finally had to use a tiny bit of double-sided tape under the drum on the last try. Said he almost threw the whole camera out the window. I guess titanium doesn't like to bend the way the old cloth did.
