Saw a Nikon F2 clunking away on a job site yesterday and realized my repair bench used to see one of those every couple months back in the 90s

Now it's all digital circuit boards and ribbon cables that snap if you breathe on them, and I wonder how many of those old mechanical shutters will just sit in closets until someone finally tosses them out.

People act like a busted shutter is the end of the world.

Oh for real, it's like a tiny scratch on your car but people act like the whole engine blew up. I had a shutter stick open once and just kept shooting with my phone for a month before I finally bothered to fix it. Honestly, half the time you can still get great shots if you work around it.
