Rant: spent 4 hours chasing a shutter issue on a Nikon FM2 before finding a single hair jammed in the curtain track
Took the whole thing apart in my kitchen on a Tuesday night, cleaned and lubed everything, still dragging at 1/250. Turned out to be one stupid eyelash-sized hair wedged in the track near the second curtain, and it came out with a pair of tweezers in about 10 seconds. Has anyone else had a baffling repair turn out to be some random junk stuck somewhere dumb?
Wasting four hours tearing down a working camera over a hair is not the flex you think it is. That track was doing its job fine until you opened it up and started poking at springs and screws, and now you have a camera held together by hope and kitchen table luck. Half the "repairs" on these old bodies create more problems than the junk they were chasing, and yours is a textbook case. Next time spend ten seconds with a flashlight and tweezers first and leave the rest of the thing alone. You got lucky, that hair could have been a bent curtain blade you made worse.
