Pulled a Yashica Electro 35 apart last night and stripped a screw thread on the shutter ring

I was working at my kitchen table in Chicago around 11pm and the brass screw just gave out after 50 years of being torqued down. Has anyone used a tap and die set to retap those tiny threads or do you just swap the whole part?

Honestly those old brass threads are like butter after half a century. Tbh I just epoxy an old screw in there and pretend it never happened.

Same here, did that with an old water valve and it's still holding strong.
