Factory grease vs my synthetic stuff, night and day on this old Pentax

I spent 3 hours last week rebuilding a Spotmatic with expensive synthetic lubricant and the shutter speeds were still off. Swapped in the same grease the factory used back in the 60s, got it dialed to spec in 20 minutes. Anyone else found that the original goop beats modern stuff for vintage gear?

Grease is grease until it's not, my rebuilds usually turn into a full-day comedy show.
