Caught myself using the wrong screwdriver on a Nikon F3 last month and felt sick
I was cleaning the film chamber on a customer's Nikon F3 last month in my shop here in Boise and grabbed my usual #00 Phillips for the body screws. One slipped and chewed up the slot a little, which never happened before, so I looked closer at the driver tip. The whole time I had been using a Phillips when those old Japanese camera screws are actually JIS, and they just look similar. I ordered a set of JIS drivers the same night for 28 bucks and every screw since has come out clean on the first try. Has anyone else made this swap, and did you notice the difference right away or was it more subtle?
