Brass brush only after the acetone soak, learned that the hard way

Ngl, I used to scrub shutter blades with a dry fiber pen until last month when I destroyed a Canonet QL17's set in about 40 seconds, the bristles just ground the old oil deeper. Now I soak them in acetone for 10 minutes and barely touch them with a brass brush, anyone else switch their blade cleaning routine after a similar disaster?

Oh come on, you're making it sound like brain surgery. A dry fiber pen worked fine for me for years on old leaf shutters and I never bent or scratched anything. The trick is just not pressing down like you're scrubbing a burnt pan. Acetone soaks can loosen the blade pivot glue on some cameras too, I've seen that happen. But yeah, I guess if you wrecked a whole Canonet set in under a minute, maybe your technique needed some work more than the brush did.
