Took a chance on that velcro strip trick someone posted here

A user named @techdad42 said to use adhesive velcro strips to bundle cables behind my desk instead of zip ties, and I finally tried it this weekend. It took me about 20 minutes to redo everything, and now adding or removing a cable takes 5 seconds instead of 15 minutes with scissors.

Haven't you found that velcro loses its grip over time though? I tried that trick a few months ago and had to redo everything when the strips started peeling off after a few weeks. The heat from my computer tower seemed to make the adhesive get all gooey and messy. Plus, if you ever need to move a cable that's been stuck for a while, you're basically scraping off the residue with a razor blade. It was a good idea on paper but in practice it just created more work for me in the long run.

@lisa820 actually had a different experience than me, I went with the 3M brand velcro strips and they've held up fine for about two months now. I put mine on the back of my desk where it stays pretty cool, so maybe that's why I haven't had the peeling issue. The trick for me was cleaning the surface with rubbing alcohol first before sticking them on, I think that helped a lot. My cable bundle behind my desk has about 8 cables now and I can swap one out in under 10 seconds flat. I've moved two cables already since putting them on and didn't have any residue left behind, but I can see how a hot computer tower would mess up the adhesive for sure.
