My electrician neighbor told me to stop using those sticky cable clips and I should have listened earlier

So my neighbor Dave who rewired his whole garage himself came over last weekend to help me mount a new TV. I had all these sticky back cable clips holding the wires behind my desk and he just laughed at me. He said those things always fall off after a few months especially if it gets warm in the room. I thought he was being dramatic but sure enough three of them had already popped off behind my dresser without me noticing. He showed me this trick where you use a small piece of velcro tape instead and screw in a little hook if you can. Two weeks later nothing has budged and my cables still look clean. Has anyone else had those sticky clips just give up on them like that?

Bet those clips lose their stick faster if you got textured walls like me...

Oh man, those sticky clips are the absolute worst for letting you down when you least expect it. I switched to little adhesive cable tie mounts that you stick on and then zip tie the cable in, and they've held up way better on my textured walls, @theaw65... still not perfect but a huge improvement over the clip style.
