My electrician buddy told me to stop hiding my power strip and it changed how I plan every desk setup
Helped my friend Dana redo her home office in Reno last weekend and she wanted every cable totally invisible, even the surge protector under the desk. Her electrician stopped by, looked at the setup, and told her a covered power strip is a heat trap and a pain when you need to unplug one thing fast. So now I mount strips on the back edge of the desk where you can still reach them, and I just bundle the loose cords going down. Has anyone else gone with reachable over fully hidden, or am I overthinking the safety part?
Oh man, my buddy had his strip buried behind a drawer and it got so hot he could smell it. He moved it to the back edge after that and never looked back, so you're not overthinking it at all.
